Starting with this release, HCL adopts a year-based marketing name: "Domino 2026" identifies technical version 14.5.1, making it immediately clear whether you are on the current release.

WHAT'S NEW IN HCL DOMINO 2026

Domino IQ goes RAG: AI answers with your data, without it ever leaving the company
Domino IQ now features Retrieval-Augmented Generation: teams can query decades of knowledge stored in Domino databases using natural language and get context-aware answers based on corporate documents and archives. The language models (LLMs) run entirely on-premises, behind your firewall, with no third-party cloud involved — and Domino's native security remains fully enforced, Readers fields included.
Responses are safeguarded by the Llama Guard 3 (Meta), Granite Guard 3 (IBM) and ShieldGemma (Google) guard models, protecting against harmful content, data leaks and prompt injection. The inference engine, built on NVIDIA CUDA, now runs on both GPU and CPU: enterprise AI no longer necessarily requires dedicated hardware.

Security: extended OIDC, phishing-resistant Passkeys, first post-quantum steps and built-in antivirus
OIDC authentication has been strengthened across the board: Web Login, HTTP bearer, Federated Login and Domino as an OIDC provider — now supporting Notes federated login, dynamic custom claims, Verse mobile clients and the use of proxies towards the provider. Phishing-resistant Passkeys upgrade automatically via WebAuthn Conditional Create, with simplified management.
Desktop policies add AES-128 and AES-256 for local encryption, while the adoption of OpenSSL 3.5 introduces the first post-quantum primitives (ML-DSA, ML-KEM, SHAKE-128/256), preparing the platform for next-generation cryptography. The server also debuts the built-in ClamAV antivirus.

Notes 2026: an interface redesigned together with the community
Cleaner layouts, modern navigation, refreshed workspace and calendar, updated iconography: a redesign driven by over 1,000 votes from the user community, for an interface that reflects how teams actually work. The client's new default typeface is Inter (the same one used on this page) and installation is noticeably faster.
Sametime chat is now integrated into the web experience, with read receipts, reactions and message search (requires Sametime server 12.0.4). For mail on the move, Traveler 14.5.1 makes synchronization more reliable.

Development and integration: updated REST APIs, JSON in LotusScript, XPages multi-upload
Updated REST APIs and improved JSON parsing in LotusScript significantly reduce the integration effort between Domino, modern development ecosystems and third-party tools. Domino Designer introduces new NotesSession (LotusScript) and Session (Java) methods for obtaining access tokens from the Domino OIDC provider, while XPages now supports multiple file uploads.
With HCL Nomad, existing applications — including those born back in the Lotus Notes days — reach browsers and mobile devices without any rewriting: modernization is instant.

Platforms and continuity: Windows Server 2025, RHEL 10, IBM i 7.6 — upgrade without migration
Certified support for Windows Server 2025 (in addition to 2019 and 2022), Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10 and IBM i 7.6: the platform moves forward in step with your infrastructure, without forcing misaligned upgrade decisions. Your Domino investment and your infrastructure investment protect each other.
Upgrading is not a migration project: applications keep working no matter which release you start from, with no parallel systems and no risk to business processes. Refinements to the administration tools, including CertMgr and DBMT, complete the picture.
